A New Take on Vampires?

When you think of it … its not hard to actually imagine that we are living in a world run by vampires; and I don’t mean just in the figurative sense. What if such immortal beings, supernatural and vampiric, were actually existing in this day and age? Possessing extraordinary powers to control and influence the lives of every human in modern-day society?

Considering that a well-organized group of vampires could potentially be running the show — wouldn’t it make for a good story to see how excessively wealthy and influential they might be over the affairs of the everyday, self-absorbed, modern human?
(Comment: The one notable exception may be the 1998 movie: Blade.)

And what if such a group of vampiric beings were so organized; so forward thinking in their plans at world domination; that their efforts could actually be traced all the way back into the era of the Dark Ages? Or further back; to the time of the Crusades?

The Fictional Vampire

The mainstream perception of vampires is generally taken straight from Hollywood movies and popular television/cable shows — Buffy: The Vampire Slayer, Blade, True Blood, Underworld, and The Twilight Series immediately come to mind; all very entertaining.

What they share in common, is that vampires are stronger and more durable than the typical human. Some of them have really cool abilities; like, celerity and flight!

They also have a common vulnerability to daylight, which is deadly to them for the most part; … except for those Twilight Vampires! (“Oh no!! Someone might see how noticeably sparkly our skin is! Don’t let them see our sparkly skin!”) I mean … Really?! That’s it? They’ve never heard of makeup? (But I digress.)

And almost always, these vampires find creative ways to keep fighting amongst themselves! Usually, it’s a power-play of some sort; where killing each other seems to be the only way they can resolve their differences.

All too often, vampires are typically portrayed as being incredibly vain, sexy, superior, impulsive, callous, distrusting, obsessive, and mentally short-sighted. They also generally lack the intelligence and wisdom that someone of their great age should be expected to have; making them quite stupid when you think about it.

And their connection to the supernatural? It’s virtually non-existent … with the rare exception of a secret Vampire Ceremony meant to bring about a Demon Apocalypse ( … it’s a shame that never happens).

So in short: They’re mainly good for just three things: Sex, In-fighting, and Hiding from mainstream humanity.

Sums it up pretty well, don’t you think?

Taking Vampires Seriously

In the Hollywood mainstream: Have these stories really done justice to the notion of just how incredibly intelligent, experienced, and demonically malevolent these vampiric beings can be? Showcasing a talent at being world-class conquerors?

Not really. The potential of a supernaturally intelligent vampire has not been taken to this level. Perhaps its a lack of imagination because sex and violence sells: End of story.

Vampire Origins

And what of the various fictional origin stories that describe how the current crop of modern day vampires first came into existence?

Created from viruses? Genetic defects? Unseemly mutations from a science experiment having gone wrong? Extraterrestrial origins?

With the exception of Bram Stoker, Anne Rice, and perhaps a few others … the modern myths on vampiric origin have seemingly wandered away from their supernatural source; choosing to create an alternate, non-supernatural, vampire.

In this: The modern day vampire has now been turned into a simple monster; conveniently explained away … without a need to address the Classic Vampire’s supernatural origin — having been replaced with a pseudo-scientifically acceptable genetic anomaly.

The Classical Vampire

The Classic Vampire (a.k.a. The Original Vampire) is a human having made a pact with a demon! And, in turn, becoming a supernatural being themselves! Thus acquiring demonically derived mental powers and physical abilities!

They would have the supernatural ability to turn into mist, or into a beast! Have the ability of casting no reflection upon mirrors. Possess the hypnotic ability to mesmerize others in their direct gaze. And they would have the exhilarating ability to fly through the nighttime sky as a winged bat … or some other winged demonic creature!

Now that’s a Classic Vampire!

Classical Vampire Mechanics?

Ever wondered how the power of a classic vampire actually works? Have you ever come across a really good, solid, explanation as to why?

Do you know of an author having gone into detail on the supernatural mechanics behind such classical vampire abilities?

As much as I know of the genre, I can’t say that I have. And I do have friends that are fairly well-versed in the genre. So far, the answer to this question has been “No.”

The New Take on Vampires

For well over the past 8 years, through the medium of a story-telling game I created with my childhood friends, called: Quantum Lords, I can honestly say that I’ve worked out every imaginable detail to satisfactorily answer all things Vampire!

This effort has culminated into what I can only call: Vampire Metaphysics! Where we fully examined every detail, question, and nuance on what establishes the theoretical creation and subsequent nature of a vampire being!

As a result: A fantastic story has emerged which really needs to be shared!

This multi-layered story is set in the present day; embracing the very best of both Sci-fi and the Supernatural — along with a decent dose of Conspiracy Theory (just to keep you questioning the very nature of your reality)!

And why is this site called “The Quantum Lord Universe”?

Only my closest friends know this secret. But let’s just say that the Vampire story is just the tip of the iceberg, taking place in a much larger universe! And that it also has something to do with humanity finally waking up, and coming of age, into our true unrealized potentials!

That’s all I can say for now.
